The Thing 2 RPG “Prequel Mode” NPC Recruitment Guide. *SPOILERS*

Below is a list of each NPC in “Prequel Mode” that you can recruit; detailing their name, class and conditions for recruitment.

Main Mission NPC’s

Harding, Captain
Joins you during the main mission. He’s part of the rescue team that arrive.

Allen, Soldier
Joins you during the main mission. He’s part of the rescue team that arrive.

Garnett, Medic
Joins you during the main mission. He’s part of the rescue team that arrive.

Perkins, Doctor
Joins you during the main mission. There is a whole part dedicated to finding him.

Irvin, Scientist
Although he is met during the main mission he doesn’t join until really late in the game.

Bridge, Starting NPC’s

Kimm, Researcher
Can be found at the Bridge [F3 Floor]. Just talk to him and tell him to assist you.

Parkman, Engineer
Can be found at the Bridge [F3 Floor]. Just talk to him and tell him to assist you.

Thompson, Doctor
Can be found at the Bridge [F3 Floor]. Just talk to him and tell him to assist you.

Ornelas, Medic
Can be found at the Bridge [F3 Floor]. Just talk to him and tell him to assist you.

Stobart, Pilot
Can be found at the Bridge [F3 Floor]. You can recruit him after the first boss fight.

Side Mission NPC’s

Ghalib, Scout
You will get a radio call about Ghalib being in the B1 Male Wash Room. He’s having some personal conflict and you just have to listen to him and give some advice before he will join you.

Yamato, Researcher
You will get a radio call about Yamato being in the B1 Female Dorms. She’s in a bit of trouble so if you help her out she will come with you.

Richards, Medic
You will get a radio call about Richards being in the B2 Stock room. She needs you to get her some items before she will help you out.

Marsh, Engineer
You can find him along with Richards. You have to help Richards before he will join you.

Diaz, Soldier
You will get a radio call about Diaz & Walker going into the B2 Office. Resolve the problem to recruit Diaz.

Walker, Soldier
You will get a radio call about Diaz & Walker going into the B2 Office. Resolve the problem to recruit Walker.

‘Husky’, Engineer
You will get a radio call about ‘Husky’ being stranded in the F1 Office areas. Help him out to recruit him.

Walsh, Engineer
You will get a radio call about Rollins & Walsh being in trouble in the B1 Male Dorm Area. Help them out to recruit Walsh.

Rollins, Engineer
You will get a radio call about Rollins & Walsh being in trouble in the B1 Male Dorm Area. Help them out to recruit Rollins.

Tanaka, Scientist
You will get a radio call about Tanaka hiding in the B2 Supply Room. Help him find Chang to recruit him.

Chang, Scout
Chang will appear as part of Tanaka’s side mission. You need to help her destroy something before you can recruit her.

Kovac, Engineer
You will get a radio call about Kovac hiding in the B3 Parts Storage. Help him find something to recruit him.

Greene, Scientist
You will get a radio call about Greene sealed inside the VER room in the B4 section. To get through the sealed door you will need to repair the Junction Boxes in the B4 CPU Lab then you must have a scientist hack one of the CPU terminals to unlock the VER room door. Greene can be recruited through a bloodtest.

Davis, Engineer
You will get a radio call about Davis lost in the B5 Ladder Access (in the B4 section). To recruit him you will need to find his missing crew (Ritter/Floyd, see below) and a missing weapons cache (in the B4 Testing & Viral labs).

Ritter, Engineer
Appears in the B4 CPU Lab once you’ve started Davis’ side mission. He’s held prisoner and needs a quick rescue.

Floyd, Pilot
Appears in the B4 Epidemic Prevention Block once you’ve started Davis’ side mission. To get to him you will need a Scientist to bypass all the sealed doors in the B4 Epidemic Prevention Block and hack the terminals in the B4 Testing & Viral labs. Just speak to him to recruit him.

Suicide Squad Transmission NPC’s [v2.5+]

Ramirez, Engineer [v2.5+]
By chance you may get a transmission from ‘Bravo Team’. Pursuing that side mission and completing the objectives will recruit Ramirez.

Rosso, Soldier [v2.5+]
By chance you may get a transmission from ‘Bravo Team’. Pursuing that side mission and completing the objectives will recruit Rosso.

‘Alpha’, Captain [v2.5+]
By chance you may get a transmission from ‘Alpha Team’. Pursuing that side mission will result in a showdown with ‘Alpha’. Beat him in combat to recruit him.

Kawada, Soldier [v2.5+]
By chance you may get a transmission from ‘Charlie Team’. Pursuing that side mission and completing the objectives will recruit Kawada.

Kelly, Medic [v2.5+]
By chance you may get a transmission from ‘Charlie Team’. Pursuing that side mission and completing the objectives will recruit Kelly.

‘Vector’, Scout [v2.5+]
By chance you may get a transmission from ‘Delta Team’. Pursuing this side mission will introduce you to ‘Vector’ who will want to barter with you to recruit his services.

Other/Secret NPC’s

Blakley, Researcher
Kill enough Spectres to get the “Cell Master Key”. You can then go to the F2 Holding Block and unlock his cell. Speak to him to recruit him.

Orinter, Engineer
Kill enough Spectres to get the “Cell Master Key”. You can then go to the F2 Holding Block and unlock his cell. Speak to him to recruit him.

White, Scout
Kill enough Spectres to get the “Cell Master Key”. You can then go to the F2 Holding Block and unlock his cell. Speak to him to recruit him.

Maya, Dog
Help Jose out enough times to get Bonus Packages. Eventually one Package will contain the “Kennels Key” which can be used to unlock the holding pens in the B2 Kennels area. Maya is one of the dogs in this area, speak to her to recruit her.

Kimbala, Sniper
You will need to take a Scientist to the B4 Epidemic Prevention Block to bypass the sealed doors and hack CPU terminals in the B4 Testing & Viral Labs to get to the Terminal that unlocks all the cell doors in this area. Speak to him to recruit him.

Moreau, Soldier
You will need to take a Scientist to the B4 Epidemic Prevention Block to bypass the sealed doors and hack CPU terminals in the B4 Testing & Viral Labs to get to the Terminal that unlocks all the cell doors in this area. Speak to her to recruit her.

Benson, Medic
You will need to take a Scientist to the B4 Epidemic Prevention Block to bypass the sealed doors and hack CPU terminals in the B4 Testing & Viral Labs to get to the Terminal that unlocks all the cell doors in this area. Speak to him to recruit him.

Trippe, Researcher [v2.5+]
Trippe appears in the F1 Storage Room where you first start the game with Natalie. He will only appear if you are playing on Normal+ difficulty and you have defeated Marin in the B5 areas. Talk to him to recruit him.

Ballinger, Scientist [v2.5+]
Ballinger appears outside on the ship deck helipad area where you met Captain Harding. He will only appear if you are playing on Normal+ difficulty and you have defeated Marin in the B5 areas. Talk to him to recruit him.

Medlock, Soldier [v2.5+]
Medlock appears in the B3 Cargo Hold area. He will only appear if you are playing on Normal+ difficulty and you have defeated Marin in the B5 areas. You will have to help Medlock fight some Spectres to recruit him.

Gentry, Scout [v2.5+]
Gentry appears in the S1-B2 stairwell area. He will only appear if you are playing on Normal+ difficulty and you have defeated Marin in the B5 areas. Talk to him to recruit him.

Rachel, Scout [v3.0+]
Before the fight with Rachel if a certain item is held a hidden dialogue option can be triggered. If triggered, a side mission will appear later on in the story which will involve an encounter with Rachel. Resolve the side mission with certain choices to recruit Rachel.

Jose, Sniper
During the final part of the main story Jose leaves the bridge to go to the B5 areas. Once you are done with the main task around the ship go to the B5 Engine Room to find him there. Speak to him but make him stay with you to get him for the final part of the story. During the final battle on deck he will ask to leave but make him stay to keep him.

Gen Inc Soldier, Soldier
During the final battle on deck if you didn’t go to the B5 area to recruit Jose then a Gen Inc soldier will approach you and offer to help you.
